The modular EcoFan concept permits applications for very varied equipment levels – from the basic module for particularly cost-favorable vehicles right up to the premium module for luxury limousines. All our fan modules ensure an extremely good flow of air through the radiator and thus increase its efficiency.

The modules can be supplied with brush-type motors and optional Fan Control Module FCM or with brushless motors and ready-integrated electronics.They feature extremely efficient sickle-shaped blades, important safety functions as well as diagnosis-capable electronic circuitry. They are also convincingly light, quiet in operation and compact. Our fan modules cover a wide performance range: 70 – 700 W for single-fan modules, 500 – 1,400 W for dual-fan modules.

 
 
 

Stepless regulation of rotation speed permits precise adjustment of the fan's performance to the engine's cooling requirements.

This function is put into practice in two ways:

  • A mechanically-commutated motor is triggered by means of a Fan Control Module (FCM).
  • The drive concept permits the rotation speed of the electronically-commutated motor (EC) to be regulated steplessly without any additional triggering.
 
 
 

The Fan Control Module (FCM) performs important tasks when brush-type motors are used. It permits infinitely-variable fan rotation speed. The precise adjustment of fan speed minimizes noise, reduces load on the vehicle’s electrical system, cuts fuel consumption, and lowers carbon emissions by up to two grams per kilometer. The FCM offers protection against incorrect polarity, blocking voltage and over-voltage, while a thermal fuse protects the control module itself.

 
 
 

The speed of the brushless EC motor is infinitely variable and guarantees that the fan’s performance is adapted to actual needs. Its high degree of efficiency contributes toward further reducing energy consumption. The integrated control electronics makes the motor capable of diagnosis and identifies mechanical blocking. An irreversible thermal fuse and extended protection against reverse polarity increase the motor’s self-protection.

Our brushless motors with outputs between 300 and 700 W offer significantly better electromagnetic compatibility than conventional brush-type motors.

 
 
 

Our comprehensive competence for the complete “engine plus cooling circuits” thermal system enables us to ideally match all system components and processes to one another and to thus realize the ideal system for every requirement with the best possible system performance. To do this, existing products are exactly matched to the system periphery in each case, and new, innovative components are constantly being developed for engine thermal management as well as for control of the climate in the passenger compartment.

 
 
 

For significantly greater comfort and lower CO2 emissions

Our auxiliary water pumps considerably increase climatic comfort in the vehicle. They improve the coolant flow, assist heating, and enable the residual engine heat to be utilized after the engine is switched off. The pumps support innovative drive concepts such as downsizing by means of turbocharging with secondary cooling circuits for the charge air, and cooling in hybrid and electric-drive vehicles (power electronics for the battery, electric motors). As a result, our pumps help to achieve CO2 reduction targets.

Our low-noise and extremely durable auxiliary water pumps are guaranteed leak-free throughout their lifetime. We offer very compact, lightweight units with brushless motors and outputs up to 20 watt. The new-generation pumps can be used over a wider temperature range, are adjustable, and have a diagnostic capability. They can also be mounted on the engine. In future, our tried and trusted pumps with brush-type motors will be complemented by brushless versions with outputs between 30 and 80 watt. The new pumps feature high efficiency, low weight, and a high power density.

 
 
 

Bosch offers a building-box of water valves with which a large number of versions and functions can be realized. The use of well proven technology and careful work-manship guarantees a high level of quality. At a flow rate of 2,000 liter per hour, the switching time is only 150 milliseconds. Valve service life amounts to about three million switching operations. Bosch water valves are designed for a temperature range from -40°C to +135°C. All valves are also available as dual valves for the separate control of driver and front-seat passenger side, and as a compact unit consisting of solenoid valve and auxiliary water pump.
