Bosch also delivers the hydraulic modules complete with integrated actuators, eletrical plug-in connectors and terminals, and transmission connector. In addition, sensors (for instance for pressure or temperature) can be integrated in the module. Mounting the fully tested module on the transmission control plate is a simple matter and has advantages for the transmission manufacturer with respect to costs, handling, and logistics.
The electronic module combines the electronic components for the transmission control, microhybrid ECU and sensors. It also features connections for further external sensors and for solenoid valves.
The fact that the individual components are integrated, together with the application of microhybrid technologies, means that the complete control module can be manufactured at a competitive price. The omission of plug-in connections and wiring lead to further advantages for the vehicle and transmission manufacturers with regard to costs and weight. Furthermore, the reduction in the number of components and interfaces improves the system's reliability, and thus results in further increases in the quality of the overall system.
The electrohydraulic module is so robust and resistant to external influences that it can be installed directly in the transmission.
Continuously variable transmissions feature maximum gear-shift sophistication and contribute to reduced fuel consumption. The fact that electronic control permits continuous variation of the transmission ratio means that customized gear-shift strategies become possible. These can be aligned to fuel-economy or sporting requirements. The very high transmission ratios permit operation at an economical operating point.
